Edit: POWXS reached out to me, and sent me a replacement charger and batteries. The new charger worked quite well, although the batteries do get a little bit warmer than I'd expect, but no more melting batteries or hot smells. The replacement batteries all worked perfectly, and were of similar capacity to the ones that worked from the first batch. From my testing of the new charger, and the batteries, they perform as expected. The capacity of this new set of batteries, as measured on a battery analyzer, is consistent with the ones that worked from the first set, and consistent between each other - about 1350-1400mah. They work great in the things I've used them with, the internal resistance is quite low, and they charge to a very consistent voltage, both in this replacement charger and others. From what I can tell, my experience was probably a fluke - I think that either the initial charger, or perhaps a couple of the initial batteries had some sort of issue, and one damaged the other.I'm leaving my initial review as it was below, but I've increased my rating to four stars - while my initial experience was poor, my experience with their customer service has been superb. They're proactive, polite, and very helpful. The replacement batteries and charger they sent me worked very well, and I've also had excellent results with other batteries I've bought from POWXS of other types. Every product from every manufacturer occasionally has a defect, so I can't fault a company for one issue - and I can praise a company for standing behind it's product and supporting their customers. In my experience, POWXS does a fantastic job of product support.------------------------------------------I like the compact, simple size of this charger - was hoping to have something convenient to keep with me when traveling, so I can recharge batteries. But... it really doesn't work very well. At first glance it seems to - it does, indeed, charge batteries. Well, most of them. Two of the batteries that came with it would not charge. One of them melted.I used this with several NiMH batteries, both the included ones and other brands - and found that it has a tendency to make them get *really* hot. Far hotter than any other charger I have. And it tends to randomly decide to not stop charging some of the batteries too - causing them to get so hot that the plastic outer sleeve of the battery melts and shrinks up. It did this to a couple of batteries, one of which was one it came with!I tested the capacity of the batteries that came with it, in my Opus charger running the refresh function - and found that the 2000mah is a bit of an exaggeration - of the batteries that worked, and minus the one that melted in the POWXS charger, the average capacity was more like 1350mah. Which still isn't terrible. This is disappointing, as I have other POWXS batteries that I bought earlier, purchased without a charger, and those have worked fairly well, and I haven't had a problem with those and their capacity was a lot better. On the plus side, waking up to the smell of melting batteries is exciting and it can be fun to try to guess which slot melted the battery before you go look at it. It tends to only melt one at a time. And then when it *doesn't* visibly destroy the battery, sometimes it just makes them really hot - so removing charged batteries can be a convenient way to burn off your fingerprints, you know, in case you have some safe cracking to do later. I'm very familiar with NiMH batteries getting warm when charging. But this is insane. Something is obviously not limiting the current properly, or not shutting off the charging when the battery is fully charged, or something. Fortunately, NiMH batteries do not burn like Li-ion cells do - they just get really hot. And POWXS had the foresight to make the charger out of a kind of plastic that melts at a higher temperature than batteries do, so it still looks great! It seems pretty unlikely that this could catch anything else on fire - it certainly gets hot enough to burn your fingers and melt the batteries, but it's probably not likely to actually ignite anything. Still, I'd suggest using this on a hard non-flammable surface. Or not at all, actually.POWXS - lives up to their name! XS POW, right in the battery.A great way to save money, buying batteries. I am not sure how long they last its been a month, they are still working on game controller, tv remote and head lamp. I do need to buy more, so when they do go out, I will just exchange them while I recharge the other ones. So on and so on.New product for me. I had another charger in the past, what happened to it, no one knows. This one is compact and works well. I like the size, not too large.I use these for my portable scanner and on a full charge they last me for 2 days without having to charge them again. My scanner is constantly scanning so it uses a lot of energy. Will be again. We’ve only used once so far but seems great. With multiple remote controllers in various rooms I was constantly frustrated with running out of batteries when I needed them. Now I have fresh batteries at the ready saving loads of cash! Pays for itself in a few battery swaps!Hacen lo que se anunciaThe batteries have a great life for rechargeable but the dock is not great. The batteries are not held well and the first charging port worked the first initial charge but not since. This is a winner. If all you want to is charge AA's and AAA's, this does it very well. The batteries stay in there, it's easy to put them in and the charge progress is easy to see in the dark.I do recommend it, would buy again.Best battery charger around ?Stop wasting your money on dock chargers! These batteries last so long and hold up after several months of use. We also do leave the charger plugged in 24/7 with no problems. We are xbox players so we go through batteries like crazy.Moi, j'ai acheté ces batteries avec le chargeur pour utilisation de mes télécommandes. Je suis satisfait dans l'ensemble. Trop tôt pour connaître la longévité. Pour le moment font très bien le travail. RecommandeWorks great so far and batteries are lasting through the charges.Very happy with the purchase, ultimately saves whether you go through batteries quickly or slowly. This is one of the few chargers that can charge 1 cell at a time (doesn't need a pair), and can charge a AA and a AAA simultaneously. It's very fast, and even comes with 8 AAA's.
